Stop and Smell the Gardenias

STRESSED? SHOW GRATITUDE

Stop and smell the gardenias!?!

Whether you live in a bustling city or a small country town chances are you fill every moment of the day with an endless list of things you “have to do”.  Ever stopped to consider how this may be affecting your health?    Stress is considered a leading cause of disease yet people seem to think they don’t know how to combat it.  Our systems need regular intervals of “down time” for renewal.  One of the best ways to do this is by meditation.  However, I frequently hear people say they don’t have time, or trying to meditate stresses them out so for those of you who don’t meditate and even for those of you who do… Hear Me Now!

Take time each day to stop and appreciate some aspect of nature.  See a flower? Then take a moment and inhale its fragrance.  Immerse yourself  in the beauty that is all around us.  Engage your senses in a way that doesn’t involve your TV,  computer, iphone/smartphone, car;  you get the picture.  You might be surprised at the affect this has on your mood.  Depression? Almost impossible if you truly engage in the wonders that are all around us.   Stress? Not after inhaling the fragrance that is expressed in a gardenia blossom, a rose blossom, jasmine, fruit tree blossoms, the list goes on and on.  Express gratitude!  It’s a wonderful planet!  We’re lucky to be here.
